Edgy Valentine’s Day Look

Like I mentioned before, hubby and I do not go all out for Valentine’s Day but we love to celebrate it. We normally eat in, watch a movie, and eat our favorite dessert. However, this year I am suddenly in the mood to go out. But we decided to make a tradition to do a fun activity. This year is Sunday brunch and axe throwing. So I decided to take a different route and created an edgy look that gives Valentine’s Day vibes. As much as I love to wear a dress, I always try to find different ways to look date night ready but stand out. Plus I didn’t want to throw axes in a dress or eat brunch in jeans. I think I found my happy medium.

Edgy Valentine’s Day Look

I wanted to continue the tradition of wearing either red or pink so I bought this heart imprinted sweater from Amazon. Can you believe that I was not a fan of red until a few years ago? Who knew red looks beautiful on dark skin?? It’s made to be oversized but I chose to purchase it in my usual size, medium. It fits perfectly!! Unfortunately it is sold out but I found similar options that are also affordable. You can also make it casual by pairing the sweater with a pair of jeans, leather leggings, or joggers.

Then I paired the sweater with these paper bag leather shorts. I know you’re thinking, “shorts in the middle of winter?” Hey, why not? But they work perfectly for cooler weather. Since the material is leather, it provides a warmth that I did not expect. They are also high waisted and y’all know that I love all things high waisted. I bought them in a size extra large because I wanted a bigger and more structured fit. But a medium would be perfect if you want a tighter fit. But leather shorts is the piece I didn’t realize I need! They will be perfect for transitioning into Spring. Hmmm…I’m thinking of a YouTube video on how to transition your wardrobe for Spring.

I finished this look with some patterned tights that also helped to keep my legs warm. And I wore some combat boots that I recently purchased from JustFab. They were a little stiff but once you break into them, you’re good to go. And they are a size 8 so you can go true to your size. Since it’s still chilly in Atlanta, I wore my teddy coat from Shein. This coat is so cozy and affordable!! Did I mention that the shorts are available on Amazon Prime? So you buy this look just in time for Valentine’s Day. If the shorts are too short for your liking, I provided a leather bermuda shorts for under $40.

What are your plans for Valentine’s Day? Let me know in the comments. Until we meet again, be blessed and love y’all!!
